She aims to create an environment where people can respect each value. And, one of them is to enhance food options. She is working to hope that everyone, including food minorities, can enjoy each meal in a way that is unique, delicious, and enjoyable.

Traditional and modern Indian restaurant that opened in Enoshima, a tourist mecca of Shonan area

Enoshima is known as a mecca for marine sports such as sailing, surfing, and diving. It gets quite lively on the weekends, attracting lots of families coming to visit the aquarium and the shrine. The commercial complex ENOTOKI opened in June, 2020 in Enoshima. It contains 9 unique shops including some popular shops from the heart of Tokyo and a very first branch of an overseas company. Spice heaven Enoshima, one of the shops, is a part of Maharaja group that operates Indian restaurants mainly across Tokyo and it is their first restaurant in Enoshima area.

Amazing location makes “daily life” very special

One of the reasons why Spice heaven is so popular is its amazing location. As soon as you arrive at the nearest station Katase Enoshima station, you will feel the lively energy of Shonan beach area and feel like unwinding. After about 5 min walk from there, you will see the complex Enotoki. The landmark is the Shin Enoshima aquarium across from Spice heaven on the national route No. 134. Stepping into the entrance on the 3rd floor, you will see the ocean of Shonan. On sunny days once a week or so, you can see Mt. Fuji. On the day of the interview, I couldn’t see Mt. Fuji due to the cloudy weather. Whether or not you can see Mt. Fuji is up to the weather. I will feel lucky to have a nice view or I will feel motivated to come back.

Spacious restaurant is decorated with an exotic interior, which makes a great match with Shonan breezes and beautiful Indian dishes. Modern seating area is suitable both for a single customer and a group, also can be hired for special occasions such as meetings and wedding parties.

It is their delicious dishes that attract lots of people. The Maharaja inc. which operates Spice heaven, has more than 50 years history as a pioneer of authentic Indian cuisine in the industry, attracting customers with the taste of tradition. In addition to that, each branch has their own original menu to enjoy, which makes Maharaja unique. Enoshima branch offers items such as nann pizza, Indian style fried noodles, hamburgers and kids menu so that people hanging out at the beach, families and young generation can enjoy their food casually.

What’s more, Enoshima branch offer dishes prepared with locally produced ingredients. The taste of ingredients really depends on how fresh they are. The less time it takes from harvest to the table, the better they will taste and the less nutrients will be lost. For example, some data shows that vitamin C level, which support the formation of bones and blood vessels and protect skin from UV light, are considered to be reduced by half level after 3 days. Enoshima is in a great location surrounded with abundant nature where you can enjoy both seafood and fresh local produce.

There are a variety of Indian curries including keema, chicken, seafood, and spinach and cheese. They offer a great deal of lunch meal set, which comes with 1-3 types of curries, salad, and freshly baked tandoori nann. I chose 2 types of plant-based non-spicy curries, dal and vegetables. They can generally be a bit plain but they have lots of flavors, giving the traditional dish a depth of taste.

Each spice has its own medicinal characteristics. Spice heaven offer dishes that give these benefits not only for spicy food lovers but also those who don’t like hot food. All the items on the menu are halal friendly, some dishes are vegan friendly and allergy information are well written, which ensures an enjoyable time “for anyone” and “with anyone” literally.

I felt h is dedicated and love toward his work and he wants many people to discover Spice heaven and enjoy their food.
