New Indian restaurant opens in Indian Town Nishikasai

Restaurant Exterior
In May 2022, a new Indian restaurant opened in Nishi-Kasai, located about a 10-minute walk from Nishi-Kasai Station on the Tokyo Metro Tozai Line. Nishi-Kasai, known as “Indian Town,” is home to many Indian restaurants, but this restaurant is already a hot topic among curry enthusiasts thanks to its extensive selection of unique Indian dishes that you won’t find anywhere else. It also offers a wide variety of vegetarian dishes! The chef even highly recommends his own vegetarian dishes. Here are some dishes that are so popular that even non-vegetarians request them.
The orange interior is just like India!

The interior is entirely orange.
The restaurant’s vibrant orange facade is eye-catching. The entire interior is also orange, creating a vibrant, Indian feel. The clean, comfortable space creates a welcoming atmosphere.
The staff, who speak fluent Japanese, will greet you with a cheerful and energetic welcome.

South Indian Cuisine
When you think of Indian curry restaurants, the typical cuisine is typically from northern India—naan and curry. However, Taj Palace is different! In addition to North Indian cuisine, they also serve South Indian and western Indian cuisine from Mumbai. This restaurant offers a wide variety of Indian dishes, making dining here a journey across India from west to north.
The staff also highly recommend the vegetarian menu, which has a wide variety of dishes that you won’t want to miss.

Vegetable Curry Menu

Indian-Chinese Menu
The menu reveals a wide variety of unfamiliar Indian dishes. They offer a wide selection of Indian-Chinese dishes, vegan-friendly South Indian cuisine, and curries. Among Indian restaurants, this restaurant offers a particularly wide selection of vegetarian dishes. While vegetarian Indian cuisine often includes meat, seafood, and eggs, and often contains dairy products, this restaurant can accommodate almost all animal-derived ingredients and vegan options with advance notice.
Here are some of their vegan-friendly Indian dishes.
▶Pakra Khichuri

Pakra Khichuri
Khichuri is a popular dish in India, particularly in the southern regions. It’s similar to porridge in Japan. It’s a national dish enjoyed by everyone from young children to the elderly, and even when catching a cold. They also offer a rich khichuri with pakra (a green vegetable paste). Scooping it up with a spoon, it’s thick and satisfying, with the rich flavor of spinach adding a nice accent. Khichuri, with its strong garlic flavor, is unusual, with a bolder flavor closer to the northern regions.
▶Tawa Vegetable

Tawa Vegetable
A rich curry made with vegetable paste. This is another rare Indian dish that is hard to find at other Indian restaurants in Japan. While rich, the vegetable content makes it easy to digest, leaving you feeling energized. The moderate richness makes this curry addictive.
▶Mushroom Chili

Mushroom Chili
Indo-Chinese cuisine also offers a wide variety of vegan options. This mushroom chili is a sweet and spicy stir-fry with chunks of mushrooms and vegetables, seasoned with garlic and spices. It’s addictively delicious and goes well with rice.
Another staff recommendation is the “Pakra Chili” made with spinach. Be sure to give it a try.
▶Chana Salad

Chana Salad
Chana salad is a classic Indian salad. This refreshing salad with the added salty acidity of citrus fruits is packed with protein and makes a great appetizer or side dish.
Also pay close attention to the event!

Indian Chef
Currently, a special set meal not included in the regular menu is available only on weekends. The weekly menu changes and is regularly updated on social media. Even this special set meal includes a vegetarian option. Keep an eye out for this! We also plan to offer a lunch buffet in the future. Enjoy unlimited North and South Indian cuisine at this great value buffet!
