Vegan menu using ingredients found in nature
Cafe 5884, nestled amongst the houses along the Tama River, is located near Koganei Park. Enjoy the natural light and seasonal changes through the large windows, while listening to healing music and relaxing in the tranquil space.

The terrace along the Tama River is a landmark.
The menu in this relaxing space is vegan-friendly. One of the most popular dishes is the 5884 Plate, which offers a variety of flavors on one plate. Featuring brown rice with red beans and vegetables grown in nearby fields, this plate is made with additive-free ingredients, even compared to tofu and fried tofu, which are often found on non-vegan dinner tables. Therefore, even those who are sensitive to soy meat can easily enjoy it. In addition to the main dish, which can be chosen from fried tofu dry curry and tofu loco moco, the plate, which is piled high with several side dishes, including homemade pickles, offers a healthy and delicious meal, and often sells out quickly. Since the owner runs the place alone, we recommend arriving early if you absolutely want to eat there!

The thick fried tofu curry plate is irresistible.

A space where you can cherish your own time
Cafe 5884 offers unique seating arrangements to ensure a relaxing experience even for solo diners. The owner, who was always concerned about his health, began this cafe with the idea that “if I opened a cafe with a vegetable-based menu, it might help me feel better!” While the cafe attracts customers of all ages, the owner’s desire to create a space where even solo diners can feel comfortable has led to the arrangement of various tables and chairs, allowing each diner to find a comfortable spot and enjoy a relaxing time.

Seating options for solo diners are also available.
In addition to meals, the daily “cake of the day,” made with rice flour and featuring a different flavor, is also recommended for solo cafe time. The gentle sweetness of the almond powder spreads throughout the mouth, and depending on the ingredients, you’re sure to find something new every time you visit. Another popular item during the hot season is their homemade amazake ice cream. Made simply with amazake, soy milk, and rapeseed oil, this flavor is perfect for a break after a workout in Koganei Park or while strolling along the Tama River.

A local cafe where you can feel relaxed and at ease
On sunny days, you can also enjoy a meal surrounded by nature on the terrace. This seating area is perfect for bringing your beloved pets along for a relaxing cafe time, making it a relaxing space for both humans and animals.

The terrace, where you can feel even more nature, is also pet-friendly.
Twice a month, on Fridays before the cafe opens, a knitting cafe is held. Guests can share what they want to make and learn from a knitting teacher. Even if you get stuck or continue at home and get confused, the teacher will be happy to help you at the next session. It’s great to be able to cultivate a new hobby at the cafe while nurturing it with your own hands until completion.

You can also enjoy a meal right after the knitting cafe.
Because it’s such a local cafe, Cafe5884 is a warm and welcoming place where connections with people and things are cherished. It’s a place where people of all ages can connect and communicate, and a place where you can forget about your daily life and feel at home, surrounded by the nature of Tama.

A Koganei City-certified Edo Tokyo vegetable shop also offers healthy meals.

After graduating from university, Yamamoto-san worked as a registered dietitian for cooking and school lunches at welfare facilities. Among them, she was keenly aware that there are many people in Japan who have dietary restrictions regardless of age or nationality. In addition, she learned that athletes are incorporating vegan diets. Then, she seeked to acquire knowledge about various diets.
From working experience and knowledge she acquired, she hopes that people with diverse dining styles will be able to provide information so that there will be more places to enjoy meals in the same space.
