Enjoy drinks and food inspired by the owner’s desire to encourage customers to eat vegetables. The cafe uses organic leafy vegetables, such as komatsuna (Japanese mustard spinach), kale, and celery, and other vegetables sourced from a greengrocer who specializes in fixed and heirloom varieties. Furthermore, in order to offer meals that can only be found at this restaurant, they use very little sugar and instead add sweetness with amazake, maple syrup, and agave syrup. In addition to making use of the sweetness of dried fruits, they also use salt to enhance the natural sweetness and offer a wide variety of menu items that make the most of the original flavor of the ingredients, and another great thing is that all of the menu items are available for takeout.

This time, I tried the berry & cream cheese and double chocolate muffins. The berry & cream cheese muffins, with their simple rice flour dough, complemented the sweetness of the blueberries and the subtle saltiness of the cheese, and I devoured them in no time. The chewy dough was accented by the texture of the berries, and one was enough to fill me up. The double chocolate, meanwhile, is reminiscent of a lightly sweet dark chocolate. The bitterness of the cacao is complemented by a hint of sweet chocolate. Because the flavor is more adult-oriented than you’d expect from chocolate, I recommend pairing it with a drink that captures the sweetness of vegetables and fruits.
