Manoya is a lifestyle shop that has a concept of developing new ideas based on a study of the past.
In this spacious shop, there are different sections for fresh produce, miscellaneous products, florist, restaurant, cafe, and educational booths for food. Manoya offers a variety of enjoyable services like a theme park.

Project of “7th industrialization of recycling” to realize sustainable society through cooperation with local communities
When you visit Manoya, there are things that I would like you to pay attention to, whether or not you are there for shopping or eating. Please pay attention to tables, chairs, walls, and stairs and you will notice the use of the recycled items!
Manoya is a part of JAC Co.Ltd., that operates industrial waste disposal and recycling. The business include recycling resource, agricultural production, operation of lifestyle shop, upcycling production(※1), and sales.
They work on “7th industrialization of recycling(※2) ” which cooperate and co-create with local administration, companies, and individuals beyond boundaries in order to provide the products with local values to consumers.
※1 Unlike recycling and reusing, upcycling means turning old and unnecessary things into something new with innovative ideas instead of disposing them, whilst making a good use of the original shape and characters and so on. It is a sustainable thinking of “turning rubbish into treasure”. (Reference:Japan upcycling association website)
※2 Project of the 6th industrialization of “production→procecssing→sales” based on recycling resource with addition of “circulation of value creation by cooperation with local community”.
There are lots of upcycled items throughout the shop. In fact, they do not give any impressions of being old fashion, but they blend in with the other interiors quite naturally, creating very modern and sophisticated atmosphere.
Restaurant, cafe, and food educational booth that you can enjoy a variety of beauty and health concious menu items
Manoya offers beauty and health conscious menu throughout the restaurant, the cafe, the bakery, and the food educational booth.
There is “Mulberry rice” made with locally grown mulberry in the restaurant, for an example. Deoxynojirimycin (DNJ) contained in the leaves of mulberry is believed to suppress the blood sugar spike after a meal. When I was there for this interview (November, 2020), there was manuka honey wine made in New Zealand available for a limited period. There are some other delightful seasonal items on the menu throughout a year.
In October 2020, Manoya launched vegan menu. One of the products Vegan scone is made from coconut oil, soy milk, and sugar beet.
“Vegetable sandwich with soy ham” has juicy meat-like soy ham and plenty of seasonable vegetables sandwiched in chewy wholemeal buns. The rich sauce made this simple vegan sandwich so satisfying and delicious.
“Vegan amazake” made with amazake (traditional fermented rice drink) and soy milk is a unique drink which can be enjoyed by people of all ages. Although amazake is generally not everyone’s favorite, this Manoya’s soy amazake is very easy to drink and enjoyable. It comes with matcha, ginger, and sesame flavors.
Since there are lots of booths with different themes, you can go from booth to booth to grab some attractive food from each booth and enjoy them. These booths are not only for food but also for shopping for miscellaneous products, it really feels like “a school festival” and you will love it!
I would like you all to have inspiring experience at Manoya where you will discover a new sustainable lifestyle and feel the power of new era. Highly recommend!
