I was always interested in food and food-related matters, so my first occupation was a pastry chef. While working as a pastry chef, I wanted to create a body that would not gain weight even after eating delicious food! I want to eat a full meal of healthy sweets! This desire led me to become a Registered Dietitian.
I am also interested in the cultural origins of food and currently enrolled in the master’s program at the Open University of Japan.
“Raw food” speciality restaurant which is rare in Sapporo. Must-try is “Detox raw food plate.”
Lohas is a restaurant offering raw food and vegetarian dishes, which is unique in Sapporo, with the concept “we care about people and health the most in Hokkaido.” “Lohas” and “raw food” means “living foods.” In the process of preparing raw food, the food should not be heated over 48 degree. This ensures that optimum nutrition and enzymes can be maintained without any loss. Enzymes and co-enzymes are considered to be very beneficial and improve metabolism and support weight loss, therefore may prevent lifestyle-related diseases.
“Detox raw food plate (1720yen)” shown in the picture comes with a smoothie of the day, raw sweets, raw nuts, vegetable sushi rolls, fresh salad, enzyme brown rice with Japanese mustard leaf Takana, organic soybean miso soup and dried fruits. It looks very beautiful and colorful and also very satisfying. “Raw nuts and vegetable sushi roll” are created with raw almonds and cashew nuts, giving them a rich creamy texture. “Blueberry marble tart” is a raw dessert, which is free from eggs, wheat, and dairy products and suitable for those who have allergies. This tart doesn’t have processed sugar, and it has a mild sweet flavor. If you want a smaller portion, “trial raw food plate” is your choice. This dish comes with raw nuts and vegetable rolls, fresh salad, enzyme brown rice with Japanese mustard leaf Takana, and organic soybean miso soup.
Sweets can be ordered on their own, if you still have room for them after the lunch dish, I would definitely recommend you to try it. The base of the tart in the picture is created from nuts. The crunchy texture goes very well with the rich and smooth fillings and I finished it in a second.
Delicious curry created with plenty of vegetables -along with enzyme brown rice to make it more nutritious and satisfying-
Lohas has a variety of dishes on the menu and the vegetarian curry is quite unique.
English menu board with pictures and prices available outside. They welcome people from overseas.
Due to its convenient location, which is on the first floor of the hotel “Bougainvillea” in Tanukikoji 8 chome, Lohas attracts lots of customers from overseas. While I was there, a man from overseas came in and he sat at the counter. The counter seating is suitable for customers coming by themselves. The signboard outside the restaurant is well written in both Japanese and English with some pictures and prices, you feel at ease.
There is a section for vegetarian and vegan products and sweets on sale. “Natural & raw food Lohas” is a great place for those who have allergies, care about health, and vegetarian.
“Raw chocolate” free from dairy and sugar is available in the store and online.
