Working as a hospital nutritionist.
My hobby is walk-and-eat. I will visit anywhere for delicious food.
My basic body makeup is limited to dietary restrictions. So I try to keep my daily dish as simple as possible, except when I eat out.
Perhaps because I am in contact with nutrition science on a regular basis, I have a little concern about what I eat.
There is a fixed amount of energy that can be taken in a day, so I am being careful not to absorb exceeding energy .
I often enjoy wine and French.
This is because like Jibie, which is high in protein, low in fat, and rich in vitamin minerals.
And, you can enjoy many ingredients little-by little in different dishes.
My healthy policy is “Balance is important for everything.”
An authentic Indian curry restaurant that serves delicious food created by a Muslim owner-chef.
Bongo curry is an Indian curry restaurant in Misato City, Saitama Prefecture. It is about 1.2 kilometers from Shinmisato Station, so it will take about 15 minutes to walk there. There is a parking lot at the store, but you can also park at Bongo Bazaar supermarket next to the restaurant, so it might be better to go by car.
When you enter the store, there is a ticketing machine with a touch screen.
There is also a counter where you can easily enter by yourself. The counter has an open kitchen where you can watch the staff cooking. I didn’t sit at the counter that day, but it was fun to see the naan cauldrons and the long sticks used to cook the tandoori chicken. When we entered the restaurant, there were no customers, but after that, people started coming in one after another. Most of them seemed to be from India. It showed the dishes are very authentic and how popular the restaurant is.
Try the hearty mutton biryani!
This time, I ordered the lunch C set and mutton biryani. The lunch C set offers a choice of two curries from butter chicken, sag chicken, and mutton. It also comes with naan, tandoori chicken, salad, and a drink. You can also choose between lassi or oolong tea. We ordered the sag chicken and mutton curry and a lassi drink. After a while, the lassi and salad were brought to us.
The dressing on this salad was delicious and tasted like nothing I’ve ever had before. Rather than being sour, it was slightly spicy, with a gentle sweetness. The salad has a good variety of vegetables, mainly cabbage, also cucumbers and purple onions.
The lassi is a rich drink. It is just the right richness to make the spicy curry milder. I think it would be nice to dilute it a little with ice at the end of the meal, but I suppose that’s up to each person.
Now, on to the main dish, mutton biryani.
Can you tell from the picture, the huge amount! The plate is filled with a pile of rice, topped with cut tomatoes. There are chunks of mutton in it. The unique spicy flavor goes well the oil that neutralizes it. It’s addictive.
Now, the other main dish has arrived.
The tandoori chicken was also served on bones and very satisfying. The yogurt makes it a mild taste.
We were full, although we left about 1/3 of each of the biryani and curry set. I didn’t expect it to be such a big portion. We asked if we could have it a takeaway, and they gave us a container, which we could fill with leftovers to take home.
The adjacent supermarket is exotic! Not only halal products, but also featured products for sale.
Bongo Bazaar is a supermarket adjacent to Bongo Curry. This is a halal supermarket run by Padma Co. We used a parking space here this time. In front of the entrance, there were cabbages for 98 yen each. I couldn’t resist buying it! Also next to it there were onions priced at 980 yen for 10 kg. Probably many of the nearby restaurants also buy vegetables and spices from this store. Frozen lamb is also sold in chunks and is very fun to look at.
You can also buy the biryani, nan, tandoori chicken, etc. sold at Bongo Curry in the store.
My image of this place was more of a commercial supermarket, but the fresh food was cheaper than I expected! The cabbage I mentioned earlier, as well as small tomatoes and komatsuna (Japanese mustard spinach), were very reasonably priced on the day. There is also a fresh fish section, and the sashimi and hand-rolled sushi with lots of ingredients looked delicious.
Even if you are not familiar with the halal food culture, this is a supermarket you can visit casually!
