Family-friendly Vegan Restaurant in Motomachi, Yokohama
M’s Table opened in 2019 on the second floor of Pompadour, a popular bakery in Motomachi, Yokohama. M’s Table uses plant-based ingredients and serves food without animal meat, seafood, eggs, dairy products, or white sugar.
While there are many vegan restaurants that give the impression that vegan food is more about enjoying with friends than with the whole family, M’s Table is attracting attention as a restaurant that is offering delicious plant-based food for the whole family, including children.
Based on the concept of “M’s [Motomachi, Minna, meaning everyone in Japanese] + Table [table] = happy smile, “Chef Yamamoto has created a menu that draws out the power and nutrition of plants through a lot of trials and errors. The menu includes course meals such as vegetable sushi, as well as kids plates for children. The seasonings used in the restaurant, such as sugar beets, Guerande salt, and rice bran oil, are all carefully selected by the chef with the customer’s health in mind.
The best Tantan noodles with original fluffy soy milk sauce
I ordered a fluffy looking Tantan noodles, which has grabbed my attention.
The first thing that you will notice when the dish is served is the soft and fluffy soy milk cream sauce, and the ingredients used are organic soy milk. The soy milk cream sauce also has the flavor of miso and white sesame seeds, and is a sauce that has tiny bubbles, spreading softly in your mouth. The vegetable broth cooked with the soy milk cream sauce adds a synergistic flavor to the noodles, and I was pleasantly surprised to find that the vegetable-derived sauce was used to create Tantan noodles.
After enjoying the soy milk cream sauce and vegetable broth as they are, you can change the taste by adding the special chili oil. While the aroma of the chili oil remains strong, it has a moderate spiciness that matches with the soy milk cream sauce. The ingredients also have a strong presence, making it a recommended dish for those who are new to plant-based Tantan noodles.
The noodles are made of gluten-free rice flour, and the texture is so good that you won’t believe that it’s gluten-free when you eat it! Rice noodles usually stick together and get too soft when heated. However, M’s table gluten-free rice noodles have a chewy texture, and when combined with the fluffy soy milk cream sauce, the noodles become smooth and filling. All the ingredients are domestically grown vegetables. They are cooked with moderate heat to avoid overcooking and losing the crunchiness, carefully considering the texture of the combination with noodles. The way vegetables are chopped also enhances the quality of the ingredients, and make Tantan noddles so special, this is why it is a recommended menu item that you will never get bored of eating.
A must-try dessert and special organic herbal tea when you come to M’s Table.
Among the many appealing desserts on the menu, the vegan pudding is one of the most recommended items. The taste and texture of this pudding made with plant-derived ingredients is one of the most intriguing.
The fine texture and smooth appearance make a great macth with caramel sauce and has an impressive gradation of subtle yellow and brown. It is made with organic soy milk and coconut milk, so you can feel the care in the selection of ingredients. Just scooping out a bite with a spoon, you can feel the smoothness of the pudding even though you haven’t eaten it. Also, if you look at the cross-section of the pudding, you can see the vanilla beans in it, and you can feel how delicious it is even before you eat it. The quality of the pudding is amazing when you actually eat it. It melts easily in your mouth and the natural sweetness and accent of the caramel sauce make you want to eat another bite.
The special organic herbal teas are the perfect accompaniment to such fantastic meals and desserts. The many kinds of herbal teas are made from a combination of organic dried herbs carefully selected by the staff. I was able to spend a warm fuzzy time at this wonderful restaurant where the whole family could enjoy a meal at the same table, and my body and mind were healed.
